Stephen Simmons
Vice President, Business Development
Stephen Simmons is Vice President for Business Development and leads the ADAGE project development efforts. Prior to joining ADAGE, Simmons directed the development of biomass projects with Duke Energy Generations Services.
Simmons has over 25 years of experience in the biomass sector. In the early 80's he worked for an early implementer of advanced gasification technologies managing multiple utility and industrial biomass plants. Subsequently, he worked for 15 years for American Ref Fuel, a waste-to-energy company and former Duke Energy renewable energy joint venture. At American Ref Fuel, Simmons held a variety of engineering, project development and asset management roles. Under his leadership, one of the largest waste-to-energy facilities in the world converted 1.2 million tons per year of municipal solid waste into enough clean renewable energy to power 70,000 homes.
Simmons holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
